Piñon Psychiatry, PLLC is a private-pay practice and does not bill insurance. Upon request, Dr. Ahern will provide a detailed superbill that patients may submit to their insurance carrier for out-of-network reimbursement. Services may also be eligible for payment or reimbursement through a Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA). If you are unsure whether you have out-of-network benefits through your insurer or whether your HSA or FSA funds may be used for psychiatric services, please contact your insurance carrier or plan administrator directly to confirm eligibility.

When clarifying coverage, here are some helpful questions to ask:​

• Does my plan offer out-of-network mental health benefits? 

• What is my out-of-network deductible?

• Once I reach my out-of-network deductible, what percentage of the cost or "allowed amount" will I be reimbursed?

• Is there an out-of-network, out-of-pocket maximum?

• Is my benefit limited to federal mental health parity diagnoses?

• Patients are also welcome to use third-party reimbursement services (such as Thrizer) at their discretion. Piñon Psychiatry, PLLC is not affiliated with or contracted with these services.
