Piñon Psychiatry
Martin Ahern, M.D.
Psychiatric Treatment
Psychotherapy
Dr. Ahern offers insight-oriented psychotherapy. This involves uncovering and addressing internal conflicts that may be contributing to unwanted patterns of behavior, ways of relating to others, or emotional states that interfere with personal growth, progress, and fulfillment.
Dr. Ahern is also trained in supportive, cognitive behavioral, and dialectical behavioral therapies.
Therapy can be time-limited or longitudinal, depending on each patient's concerns and goals.
Medication Management
Dr. Ahern prescribes psychiatric medications to manage a broad spectrum of symptoms with an evidence-based, collaborative approach.
This involves a thorough review of each patient's medical history, close collaboration with other medical providers, when indicated, and counseling to maximize non-pharmacologic interventions that may help address target symptoms.
Dr. Ahern also treats those that wish to explore reducing the number of psychiatric medications they currently take or those that seek to safely taper off of psychiatric medications.
